Namibia 2023

Many great stories begins with, love is in the air…

And so too does this one. Just not ours. But that of Lindie’s close cousin Marelize and Jano. When planning a wedding, careful consideration has to be given to the date and time of the year. Somehow, 20 December in Mariental Namibia made perfect sense. Lindie and I had to rack our brains a little on how we are going to make this work, but soon, more opportunities than challenges started to emerge. Basic maths soon pointed to driving versus flying, and that opened the door for so much more. After a couple of days of route planning and finding accommodation, we had a very exciting 3 week itinerary planned.

Day 1
For this trip I did not plan very long stints in the car. I limited it to no more than 6 hours driving per day. So with only 580kms to Red Sands, an old faithful stop over, we woke up relaxed on Saturday the 16th of December and packed the final gear and clothes before heading to the parents to fit the roof top tent. We set off just after 11:00 on the N14, a road we know very well and jokingly call it “our” highway. The N14 leads to so many magical places we got to experience over the last couple of years.
